Seminar On “Role of Archaeological investigation methods in Historical Research”

Online Seminar On “Role of Archaeological investigation methods in Historical Research” Conducted By The Department Of History, Mercy College, Palakkad The Seminar on Research Methodology discussed about the importance of archaeology in Historical research. The lecture highlighted various archaeological terms as well as different stages of excavation, preservation and conservation. Archaeology provides us with the opportunity to learn about past cultures through the study of artifacts, animal bones and sometimes human bones. Studying these artifacts helps to provide us with some insight about what life was like for people who left behind no written record. In the case of historical archaeology the artifacts can help us to recognize that historic documents often don’t speak for all the people and can provide us with a picture of what life was like for people who are seldom responsible for the written record. Details The resource person was Ms. Hasnath Hussain, Faculty, Dept. of History, Maharaja’s College, Ernakulam, The talk was arranged for the students of Mercy college exclusively on 15th March 2022 at sharp 7 pm on the Google meet platform. The talk was under the supervision of Ms. Shyni Thomas, The HOD of History.
