Professional social work is based on a body of knowledge and skills that are rooted in democratic values and are applied through the methods of social casework, social group work, community organization, social work administration, social work research, and social action. Its goal is to assist people individually and in groups by engaging in problem-solving activities.
Dr. Sr. Alice Thomas, the principal, established the social work department in 2015-16. Mr. M.B Rajesh, M.P., inaugurated the department. The department provides a two-year post-graduate social work program with two specializations: Medical and Psychiatric Social Work and Rural and Urban Community Development. The major objective of the course is to study the various methods of social work for improving the human standards of living by creating awareness of their capabilities and helping them to solve their problems in their day-to-day life.
