Mercy College Student Union is a democratic organization run by and for students within the institution, operating under the constructive guidance of the Head of the Institution and select teaching staff who serve as mentors and advisors. Through this organized body, students gain access to numerous benefits including advocacy for their academic rights, welfare concerns, and campus-wide issues that affect their daily lives, ultimately aiming at the general welfare of the student community. This mainly helps to train the Members of the Student Union and help them enjoy opportunities to develop leadership skills by participating in governance, organizing events, and managing budgets, which prepares them for professional careers. The union provides essential support services such as academic guidance, mental health resources, legal advice, and financial assistance during emergencies, ensuring students have a safety net during challenging times.
As Mercy College is affiliated with the University of Calicut, the student union strictly adheres to the election rules and regulations stipulated in the university's bye-laws. Furthermore, the institution remains responsive and adaptable, promptly implementing every improvement, amendment, and rectification introduced by the University during each academic year. By conforming to these established norms, Mercy College creates an environment where student voices are heard through legitimate and accountable channels of representation.
