Mercy College About Us

The National Cadet Corps is a national organization established with an aim of training the youth of the country into disciplined, patriotic and service minded citizens .It is a tri services organization comprising the Army, Navy and Air wing. The cadets are given basic military training in small arms and parades.

Mercy College NCC unit had its inception in the year 1969. Presently the unit with 106 cadets is the part of 27(K) BN NCC, Palakkad under the Calicut Group Headquarters. Ever since the functioning of the unit in the college, cadets of different periods have brought laurels to the unit. Several cadets of Mercy College NCC unit have got opportunities to participate in the National level camps like Republic Day Camp and Thal Sainik Camp. The unit had outstanding cadets who had been selected to Youth Exchange Programme also.

Maj. Lillykkutty Thomas T, Associate Professor in Hindi has been officiating as Associate NCC Officer of the Unit since 1997. She had been detailed for Independence Day Camp (Sports and Games) in New Delhi in the year 1998 to represent the Kerala and Lakshadweep Directorate of NCC.

Mission

To develop leadership and character qualities, mould discipline and nurture social integration and cohesion through multi-faceted programmes conducted in a very inspiring environment. The Motto of the NCC is “UNITY AND DISCIPLINE”.

Aims and Objectives of NCC

  • To develop qualities of character, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure, sportsmanship and ideals of selfless service among the youth of the country.
  • To create a human resource of organized, trained and motivated youth, to provide leadership in all walks of life and always be available for the service of the nation.
  • To provide suitable environment to motivate the youth to take up a career in the armed forces.
