The Department of Zoology is one of the oldest departments of Mercy College which had started academic instructions at the UG level in 1967. To meet the ever-increasing demand for higher education of women, the PG course in Zoology with Entomology specialization was established in the year 2020 PG under the affiliation of University of Calicut.
The graduate and post graduate degree programs in Zoology opens a vast range of career opportunities in the field such as Teaching and Research, Forensics, Indian Forest Services, Indian Administrative Services. It also opens career opportunities in higher specialized areas like Geneticist, Pathologist, Ecologist, Biochemist etc. Zoo & Museum curators, Animal and Wildlife educators, Wildlife rehabilitators and Conservationists, Research Project Assistants are few other options for students pursuing Zoology.
The department is a vibrant academic centre that strives to create an innovative atmosphere for teaching and learning to achieve excellence in biology leading to the sustainable development of the society.
