The FCC at Mercy College is a dedicated facility that provides professional counseling services to individuals and families in need of support. The primary aim of the centre is to promote mental health and overall well-being within families. By providing counseling services, the centre strives to help individuals, couples, and families to develop healthy coping mechanisms, improve relationships, and enhance their emotional and psychological resilience.

Objectives
  • To improve communication patterns and interpersonal relationships within families.
  • To adapt the transitions and developing strategies for resolving conflicts and building stronger connections.
  • To provide support and guidance to individuals and families during various life transitions.
  • To facilitate personal growth and self-awareness through individual counseling, clients are encouraged to explore their emotions, beliefs, and behaviours, gaining insights into themselves and developing strategies to address personal challenges and achieve their goals.
  • To educate and empower clients by workshops, seminars, and educational programs conducted by the centre help raise awareness about mental health, effective communication, and positive parenting practices within the wider community.

Services offered:
  • Individual counseling: The center offers one-on-one counseling sessions for individuals dealing with personal issues such as anxiety, depression, stress, grief, trauma, and self-esteem problems. The counseling process is tailored to meet the unique needs of each client, promoting personal growth and emotional healing.
  • Family Counseling: the centre specializes in family therapy and provides interventions that focus on improving family dymanics, communication patterns, and resolving conflicts. The counselors work with families to strengthen relationships. enhance understanding, and promote effective problem-solving within the family unit.
  • Marital counseling: Couples experiencing relationship difficulties, such as communication breakdown, infidelity, or compatibility issues, can seek assistance through marital counseling services. The centre’s counselors provide a safe space for couples to express their concerns, rebuild trust, and develop healthier patterns of interaction.
  • Group Counseling: The centre offers group counseling sessions that address specific topics such as parenting, anger management, stress reduction, and coping skills.

Mission and Approach

The FCC at Mercy College adopts a holistic and client-centered approach to counseling. The counselors employ evidence based therapeutic techniques and draw from various theories such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic theory, and family systems theory.
