The Department of Physics, established in 1967 and upgraded to a Research Department under the University of Calicut in 2019, has become a center for quality research in material science and photovoltaics. Currently, the department has two research guides and has produced two PhD graduates to date. The research lab is well-equipped thanks to the support through DST-FIST funding, along with project support from BRNS-DAE, UGC, and KSCSTE. In pursuit of contemporary academic goals, the department actively organizes international workshops, hosts exhibitions and conducts seminars.
