NAAC Accreditation

NAAC

The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) was established in 1994 as an autonomous institution of the University Grants Commission (UGC), with its headquarters in Bengaluru. NAAC facilitates voluntary participation by institutions to assess their performance vis-à-vis prescribed parameters through a process of introspection and participative evaluation. The assessment and accreditation process is based on the following seven criteria:

  • Curricular Aspects
  • Teaching–Learning and Evaluation
  • Research, Innovations and Extension
  • Infrastructure and Learning Resources
  • Student Support and Progression
  • Governance, Leadership and Management
  • Institutional Values and Best Practices

Mercy College was one of the first colleges under the University of Calicut to voluntarily undergo the assessment and accreditation process in 1999, recognising that an independent review mechanism would facilitate the identification of the institution’s strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities. In the first cycle of accreditation, the College was awarded a Four Star status and has consistently maintained an ‘A’ grade through the subsequent three accreditation cycles. The institution is presently preparing to undergo the fifth cycle of accreditation under the new Binary Accreditation Process recently announced by NAAC.
