Mercy Home, Home for Aged and Destitute Women arose as an offshoot of Mercy College since the Social Service League of the College desired to give love and care to the deserted and aged women of the state. It is registered under The Societies Registration act 1860 (XXI of 1860) Sl. No 107 of 1980. The name of the society is ‘Mercy Home Charitable Society’ for the Aged Destitute. Its foundation stone was laid on 6th November 1979, by His Excellency Mar Joseph Irimpan, the Bishop of Palakkad. The building was constructed with the financial assistance extended by the generous people around and the government at large. It was above all a manifestation of the Divine Providence. The Home for Aged became a reality under the leadership of Sr Fortunata C M C, then the principal of the Mercy College. The inauguration of the home took place on 16th July 1980. It flourished under the special care and service of Sr Dematria and Sr Gabeena were guided by the principals who took charge of the college from time to time.
The society is a non-profitable and charitable society and the income of the society shall be utilize solely for the objects of the society
Principal of Mercy College is the Director of Mercy Home. Now it is like a tree that shelters and heals the wounded birds. Now, a team of sisters- Sr Rita, Sr Sidhi, Sr Annie Grace, Sr Elsy and Sr Sarala are rendering their services whole-heartedly to the Destitute and Aged women. They have succeeded in making them lead a life of love and peace. The old age home although small with only capacity 25 women only, provides a homely atmosphere to the seniors.
