INDIAN KNOWLEDGE SYSTEMS (IKS) CELL

In accordance with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the initiatives of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Mercy College, Palakkad, and under the coordination of the Department of Languages (Malayalam, Hindi & Sanskrit), Mercy College, Palakkad, it is hereby ordered that an Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) Cell is constituted in the College with effect from 13.08.2026.

The IKS Cell shall function as a platform for promoting awareness, study, research, preservation, and dissemination of India's rich knowledge traditions through interdisciplinary academic and outreach activities.

Objectives of the IKS Cell:
  • To promote awareness and understanding of Indian Knowledge Systems among students and faculty.
  • To encourage interdisciplinary teaching, learning, and research related to IKS.
  • To preserve and disseminate India's traditional knowledge, heritage, arts, literature, sciences, and cultural practices.
  • To organize seminars, workshops, lectures, exhibitions, competitions, and other academic activities related to IKS.
  • To encourage students to undertake projects and research on various aspects of Indian Knowledge Systems.
  • To explore the relevance and contemporary applications of traditional Indian knowledge.
  • To promote collaboration with academic institutions, scholars, and experts working in the field of IKS.
