Inauguration of Save Green Club, an environmental initiative of PG & Research Dept. of English, Mercy College, in collaboration with OISCA Women’s Chapter, Palakkad, was held on 5th June 2021 on the occasion of World Environment Day. The program was held online via Google Meet (https://meet.google.com/fcq-sxux-quc) at 10.30 am. Dr. N. Krishna Kumar, IAS (Rtd), President, OISCA – South India, inaugurated the activities of the club. Dr. Krishna Kumar spoke on the topic, ‘The Role of Youth in Ecological Restoration’. The program was attended by senior committee members of OISCA, including Mr. M. Aravinda Babu (Deputy Secretary General, OISCA International, Japan & Director and Secretary General, OISCA International, South India), Dr. Parvathy Warrier (Vice President, OISCA South India) and Ms. Pushpa Satyan (President, OISCA Women’s Chapter, Palakkad). Dr. Sheena John, HoD, delivered the Presidential Address. Dr. Sr. Gisala, Principal, Mercy College and other invited guests representing OISCA offered felicitations. Faculty coordinator for the club is Ms. Sonia Thomas, Asst. Professor of English, Mercy College. 90 students from UG and PG streams attended the inaugural function.
