Department of Economics, Mercy College Palakkad, and Department of Economics, St. Joseph College (Autonomous), Irinjalakkuda, jointly organised an international seminar on November 23, 2022, at 2 PM via Google Meet on the topic “Women Empowerment Through Education and Employment.” Dr. K. M. Ashifa, Assistant Professor in Social Work, Faculty of Economics & Social Science, Visantasi University, Istanbul, Turkey, was the resource person for the session. The seminar was started with a prayer by Ms. Gopika and Ms. Jyothiraj, D2 Economics, St. Joseph College (Autonomous), Irinjalakkuda. The welcome speech was addressed by Mrs. Anaida Ann Jacob, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, Mercy College Palakkad. Dr. Valsa Jhon C., Associate Professor, Department of Economics, St. Joseph College (Autonomous), Irinjalajkkuda, has felicitated the seminar. The resource person emphasised that the importance of women’s empowerment is inevitable in the context of the promotion and protection of human rights. She focused on the causes and social consequences of issues faced by women and ways to overcome these situations. The session was very insightful, and it motivated the students. The session was over by 3.30 p.m. Dr. M. S. Geetha, Department of, St. Joseph College (Autonomous), and, Irinjalakkuda proposed the vote of thanks.
