Seminar on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)

The PG Department of Zoology in coordination with the Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks, Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Govt. of India, Kerala State Council for Science, Technology, Environment – Intellectual Property Rights Information Centre Kerala (KSCSTE – IPRICK), and Govt. Victoria College, Palakkad, organized an ‘Awareness Programme on Intellectual Property Rights’ under National Intellectual Property Awareness Mission (NIPAM) on 23rd Feb, 2022. On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence, Government of India has launched the National Intellectual Property Awareness Mission (NIPAM) under the banner ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to create widespread awareness on IPR in association with Intellectual Property Office, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Govt. of India. The objective of this Mission is to impart awareness on IPR to 1 million students during the time span from 15th August 2021 to 15th August 2022. Intellectual Property Rights Information Centre – Kerala (IPRIC-K) is currently functioning in KSCSTE, and is the Nodal Agency of the Kerala State for matters related to Intellectual Property Rights and Services in coordinating the activities under the Mission in Kerala in association with Patent Office, Chennai. The session on the ‘Overview of Intellectual Property Rights and its significance’ was headed by Ms. Devika R. Nair, Examiner of Patents & Designs, Patent Office, Chennai. 220 participants including faculty, Undergraduate and Postgraduate students & research scholars participated in the programme and all of them were issued with e-certificates.
