WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2025 - WARDROBE REBORN

Environment Day was celebrated withgreat enthusiasm on June 5, 2025, under the banner of Wardrobe Reborn,a unique awareness campaign focused on promoting sustainable fashion and thepractice of reusing clothes. The event was organized in collaboration with theDistrict Kudumbashree Mission, Palakkad and Department of Social Work, MercyCollege Palakkad.

The campaign aimed to raise awarenessamong students and the community about the environmental impacts of fastfashion and the importance of mindful consumption and reuse of clothing. Theinitiative highlighted the need to reduce textile waste and encouragedparticipants to give their old clothes a new life.

The event was graced by severaldignitaries and resource persons. Dr. Sr. N. M. Loully, Principal, received apromotional poster from the District Kudumbashree Mission for promoting therecycling and reusing of clothes, encouraging sustainable living andenvironmental responsibility among students and staff. The awareness class wasled by Assistant District Coordinator Mr. Krishnadas, along with DistrictProgram Managers Jijin, Chindu Manas, and Sreedvi, and Kudumbashreerepresentative Ms. Thanooja. They shared insights on the environmentalconsequences of clothing waste and practical steps individuals can take toreduce it.

A special message video from theDistrict Collector was played during the session, reinforcing the districtadministration’s support for sustainable initiatives like WardrobeReborn.

The programme began with a warmwelcome speech by Ms. Sreya M., Faculty of the Department of Social Work. Theevent concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Athulya, afirst-year MSW student, who expressed gratitude to the guests, organizers, andparticipants for their support and active involvement.
