The Department of Social Work, Mercy College,Palakkad, organized an orientation session followed by a practical session onthe topic ‘Digital Tools for EffectivePresentation’ on 22nd August2025 at 10:30 a.m. in theSeminar Hall. The session wasled by Ms. Muhsina, alumna ofMercy College, Palakkad.
The objective of the programme was to enhance thepresentation and designing skills of the social work students by familiarizingthem with various digital tools and techniques that can be used for creatingeffective and visually appealing presentations, posters, flyers, and brochures.Ms. Muhsina began the session by giving a comprehensive orientation on how tomake effective PowerPoint presentations.She explained the essential elements of a good presentation, such as contentorganization, slide design principles, appropriate use of visuals andanimations, selection of fonts and colours, and maintaining audienceengagement. She also discussed common mistakes to avoid while preparingpresentations.
Further, she introduced the participants to variousdigital tools available for designing,including popular online platforms like Canva.She demonstrated how these tools can be used to design flyers, posters, brochures, and other creative content. Sheemphasized the importance of creativity, layout planning, and visual balance indesigning attractive materials for academic and professional purposes. Inthe practical session that followed, the students activelyengaged in creating their own PowerPoint presentations and posters under theguidance of the resource person. This hands-on experience enabled them to applythe techniques and skills learned during the orientation.
