In connection with Lunar day celebration 2021 The PG & Research Department Of Physics organised 5 different college level competitions from July 21st 2021 to July 26th via online platform. Competitions 1.Lunar quiz 2.Space Experience narration 3.Essay writing 4.Doodle 5.Relics of Luna(team event) The organizing committee (Students of D2 Physics) shared registration link and participants joined corresponding WhatsApp groups. Total 75 students registered for the competitions. Lunar Quiz The first competition was the Lunar quiz .46 students from various departments registered for the competition.Topic -Moon & Space.On July 21 ,2021 at 8.00pm the competition started . Participants were given link to participate.Total 15 questions were there.The quiz was time bounded (5 minutes)and participants were allowed single attempt only. The quiz link was active 8.00 -8.15 pm . Winners 1st Vyshnavi P B.Sc Chemistry 2ndGayathri S Kumar BA English 3rdAiswarya T-B.Sc Physics & Devika P – B.Sc Botany Space experience narration-Moonwalker On 22nd July ,2021 the participants were given planets individually and asked to narrate about their experiences about visiting that planet as a part space agency . Participants were given 2 days to prepare and to send their videos .All the 5 participants had done their best. Winners 1stC Sanjana Sunil(D2 Zoology 2nd Drishya C(D2 Maths) 3rd Riluvana M(PG Commerce) Doodle-Sketch the space On 23rd July ,2021 The participants of Doodle competition were asked to draw the doodle based on space .Total 15 participants were there.Participants were given 1 day to sketch the doodle Winners 1st.Silpa.N 2ndLakshmi Krishnakumar 3rdArdra P Cosmos-Essay writing competition On 24th July 2021 participants were given topics related to space.Total 22 students had participated.The competition was conducted as two sections for Arts and science Departments and were given the following topics respectively. Topics FOR ARTS DEPARTMENT: “Moon Myths vs Reality” ” ???????? ??????????? ????????????? ?????? ??????????????” FOR SCIENCE DEPARTMENTS: “Lunar mission : It’s scope and Future” “??????????????????? ???????????? ????????” Winners 1st – Adithya.N.V(D2 Zoology), Riluvana(PG commerce) 2nd – Drisya.C(D2 Maths) 3rd – Nancy babu.T(D2 Maths) Relics of Luna-Team event Relics of Luna is team event .Total 11 groups participated in the competition. Each group consists of 5 members.For each team 2 mentors were there. And the Group members were given activities in their WhatsApp group by their mentors . The competition was conducted from 24th July to 25th July 2021 All the activities aimed at exploring the space and moon. Total 5 tasks were given.Within the given time participants had to submit their responses in their respective groups. 1.Find the dates related to space and it’s importance using the clues given 2.Match the logos of space agencies with the person related to it. 3. Identify and draw constellations with the help of hints 4.Space quiz in Quizziz 5.Cryptic crossword – Participants were given digital a map in the centre of which was a book that was linked to A crossword puzzle. It had three names of three Scientists related to space after figuring out them they had to decrypt the crypto codes in the map and link the scientist to various planets discovered which was written in another language. Winners Team 4(D2 Zoology) Thushara Gopika V Sajan Neema P M Rose Paul Amritha K Valedictory function and result announcement. On 31st July 2021 at 10.00 am the valedictory function and result announcement program of SELENE -LUNAR DAY CELEBRATION occurred via Google meet (YouTube live too). Sneha K Unni (D2 Physics) and Jaithra S(D2 Physics) were the hosts. The program started with prayer by Abhichandra (D2 PHYSICS) Principal Dr. Sr.Gisala George delivered inaugural speech . Head of the department (Physics) Miss.Mariyamma John(Asst.Professor) delivered the felicitation. All the teachers of the department of Physics,all the participants and Students of B.Sc Physics joined the meeting. After announcing the results many participants shared their experiences of different competitions.Convenor of the program Anlin Lazar(Asst.Professor) delivered the vote of thanks. All the winners were awarded E-Certificates.
