In 2020 -2021, PG Department of Mathematics conducted a 30 Hours Certificate course on “Geriatric care” from January 2021 to March 2021, which includes the introduction to care giving for older adults, age related diseases and disorders and promotion of healthy ageing. We gave this course for 68 students of First year and second year UG Mathematics and 19 students of first year PG Mathematics. A Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) was signed between Mercy College, Palakkad and Sahajeevanam Health Care(A unit of Manpura Public Charitable Trust), Palakkad. This programme started with an introduction class by Mr. Girish and Mr. Manoj A, Applied Gerontologist, Sahajeevanam Health Care, which offers the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in a role as a care taker to an older adult. Subsequent classes were taken by Sr. Gana C.M.C. (RNR and hospital administrator) , Sr. Deepthy CMC( Retd. Nurse). As a part of training program, students visited Sahajeevanam Health Care and Old Age home. The students also initiated in street and home Palliative care. At the end of this course, an examination was conducted on 31/03/2021 and awarded certificates on 16/04/2021
