Department of Computer Applications, Mercy College, Palakkad celebrated students’ day 2021 by organizing”KALAAMKOSMOS 2K21?. The Staff Coordinator for this event was Mrs.Stency V S and Student Coordinators were Unni Maya.V & Keerthana S (students of D2 BCA). Great guidance and support were given by our HOD, Sr. Jainy Jacob M and all the teachers of our department. On October15, we shared a video through College YouTube Channel as a “Tribute to Dr A P J Abdul Kalam sir”. Our student’s speech and art works were included in the video. Apart from this, we had conducted a National Level Quiz Competition for higher secondary students on 23rd October 2021. The Topic for the quiz was “Indian paceand Life & works of Dr A P J Abdul Kalam”. The quiz was conducted as two rounds. We circulated the Brochure of this event to various Higher secondary Schools inside as well as outside Kerala. 42 participants were registered for the quiz. Among these 14 participants were from various districts of Tamil Nadu. Quiz was started with a prayer at 10:00 am, followed by a speech on Indian Space achievements and Contributions of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalaam to it. First round was conducted through google form in an online meet. 30 questions were provided within a time limit. Those who had scored 23 & above were shortlisted for final round. 12 participants were selected for the final round which was conducted through google meet. In final round 5 questions were asked to each participant and final three winners were decided based on their points. Presentation slides displaying the questions and timer were shared in the meet. In case of tiepoints, we have provided tie breaker questions to finalize the winners. Cash prizes and E-Certificates were awarded to the final three winners. E-Certificates were provided to all participants.
