SCHEMES & POLICIES FOR WOMEN

TheDepartment of Social Work organized a session on ‘Women: Schemes and Policies’.Ms. Suna S Chandran, a gender specialist, Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women,District Women and Child Development Office, Palakkad, led the session,focusing on policies and schemes provided by the Indian government and Keralagovernment for women’s empowerment. Ms. Suna discussed various schemes andpolicies, including, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana: providing LPG connectionsto women, Kaithangu project, Mangalya project, Rakshadooth, Pradhan MantriMatru Vandana Yojana, Janani Suraksha Yojana, Ashwasanidhi, Sahayahastham,Penma project, etc. The majority of the projects discussed were tailored toaddress the diverse needs and challenges faced by women.

Thesession covered the benefits, implementation strategies, and impact of these schemes.Ms. Suna addressed queries, shared best practices for effective implementation.  The interactive session encouragedparticipants to discuss ways to leverage these initiatives for communitydevelopment. Attendees appreciated the comprehensive overview. The programmewas thoughtfully and systematically coordinated by Ms Shreya M. The sessionconcluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging Ms. Suna’s expertise and thedepartment’s efforts. The Department of Social Work plans to conduct more sessionson social welfare policies. Participants gained knowledge on government schemesfor women’s empowerment, enabling community development contributions.
