The Department of Economics and Sociology, Mercy College Palakkad, conducted the Association Inauguration “Moneta” 2023–24 on July 7, 2023. The function was inaugurated by Dr. Pradeep P., Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, Sree Kerala Varma College, Thrissur. He addressed the function by delivering a talk on Rudiments of SDGs: A Stride towards Sustainable Development. He delivered a wide knowledge of sustainable development and its 17 goals. The sustainable development goals are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. He presented the 17 goals, such as no poverty, zero hunger, good health and well?being, quality education, gender equality, and so on. The 17 goals are interconnected, and in order to leave no one behind, it is important that we achieve them all by 2030. He also addressed the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace, and justice. Moreover, the students also shared their views and thoughts, which can be followed in schools and colleges for a sustainable nation.A doubt-clearing session was also there. Relevant talks on the phenomenon of the green revolution and the significance of sustainable development, along with information on indicators like HDI, were also presented in this session. Ms. Sreeshma C welcomed the gathering, and Ms. Sreelakshmi B proffered a vote of thanks.
