World Environment Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm on June 5, 2025,under the banner of Wardrobe Reborn, a unique awareness campaignfocused on promoting sustainable fashion and the practice of reusing clothes.The event was organized in collaboration with the District KudumbashreeMission, Palakkad and Department of Social Work, Mercy College Palakkad.
The event was graced by several dignitaries and resource persons. Dr. Sr.N. M. Loully, Principal, received a promotional poster from the DistrictKudumbashree Mission for promoting the recycling and reusing of clothes,encouraging sustainable living and environmental responsibility among studentsand staff. The awareness class was led by Assistant District Coordinator Mr.Krishnadas, along with District Program Managers Jijin, Chindu Manas, andSreedvi, and Kudumbashree representative Ms. Thanooja. They shared insights onthe environmental consequences of clothing waste and practical stepsindividuals can take to reduce it.
A special message video from the District Collector was played duringthe session, reinforcing the district administration’s support for sustainableinitiatives like Wardrobe Reborn.
The programme began with a warm welcome speech by Ms. Sreya M., Facultyof the Department of Social Work. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote ofthanks delivered by Ms. Athulya, a first-year MSW student, who expressedgratitude to the guests, organizers, and participants for their support andactive involvement.
