PREMARITAL AND RELATIONSHIP COUNSELLING

On Thursday, September 21, 2023, Mercy College Palakkad hosted a significant event titled "Premarital and Relationship Counseling," organized by the Palghat Educational and Cultural Council. The session, held in the main seminar hall, was led by Smt. Sumati Nair, a prominent figure in Gender Awareness appointed by the Government of Kerala. The event commenced with a serene prayer song performed by Habeeba from the D2 Economics class, setting a harmonious tone for the proceedings. Nandhana R., also from the D2 Economics class, welcomed all attendees warmly, marking the beginning of an engaging and informative session. Dr. Liji K.T, the Head of the Department of Economics, alongside other faculty members and students, actively participated in the event, demonstrating the institution's commitment to promoting healthy relationships and gender awareness among its community. Following the welcoming remarks, Smt. Sumati Nair delved into a comprehensive Gender Awareness class, covering a wide range of topics crucial for building and maintaining strong relationships. From discussions on religion, finance, and intimacy to exploring issues like health, career aspirations, parenting, division of household chores, debt management, and the significance of social circles and family dynamics, the session provided valuable insights and practical advice for attendees.
The primary objective of the counseling session was to equip individuals, particularly couples, with the necessary tools and understanding to foster healthy relationships before and after marriage. The discussions aimed to empower participants to navigate various aspects of their personal and relational lives with confidence and understanding.
The session proved to be highly informative, prompting attendees to reflect on their own circumstances and consider practical strategies for addressing potential challenges. In particular, the counseling session provided valuable insights for women, offering guidance on how to prepare effectively for the commitments and responsibilities associated with marriage. Safa Parveen, a student from the D2 Economics class, concluded the event with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants and organizers for their contributions to the enriching session. Overall, the "Premarital and Relationship Counseling" session facilitated meaningful dialogue and reflection, fostering a deeper understanding of the complexities of relationships and equipping attendees with valuable insights for building strong and enduring partnerships.
