The PG Department of Economics and Sociology conducted an analysis and discussion on union budget 2024-25 on 04/03/2024 in the EV seminar hall. The session was aimed to dissect and evaluate the budgetary allocations and policy announcement made by the government for the upcoming fiscal year. The session featured presentations and discussions covering key aspects of the union budget, including taxation, expenditure priorities and sectoral allocations. A comprehensive analysis was made on the budget allocation for the key sectors like agriculture, infrastructure, education, healthcare and social welfare programs. Also, examined the government plans for the poverty alleviation, employment generation and rural development. The session provided valuable insights in to the government fiscal priorities and policy directions. The students were actively participated in the discussions, contributing to a nuanced understanding of the budgetary implications. Discussions highlighted the governments efforts to stimulate the economic growth and address the challenges such as unemployment and inflation. Concerns were raised regarding the fiscal deficit and its potential implications for long term economic stability.
