STUDY TOUR TO WAYANAD The Department of Economics organised a study tour for the 2nd PG students to Wayanad on 17th and 18th November 2022. The journey started at 5 am on the 17th morning. At first they visited ‘En ooru’ a tribal heritage village, an initiative by the Kerala tourism department to promote tourism in tribal regions. This benefited the students in learning the economic activities of tribal villages. Then they visited ‘900 kandi , a hill station where the students could explore nature, here there was a trek to a waterfall and a campfire at night. On the next day, they visited Kuruvadweep, an island, which gave them a pleasant walk through the woods, Banasura Sagar dam , where they did adventurous activities like Zip line ride, and to Pookode lake in the evening. Later that day, they visited Bee Craft honey museum, from where they were able to learn about the life cycle of honeybees and its importance in the ecosystem. On the whole, the tour allowed the students to explore the tourism industry and its prospects in the Wayanad district.
