PREMCHAND JAYANTI 2024 The Department of Languages (Hindi), Mercy College, Palakkad organized a one-day seminar (Kaljayee Sahithyakar Premchand) on August 9th, 2024, to commemorate Premchand Jayanti, honoring the great Hindi writer Munshi Premchand. The event was a fitting tribute to Munshi Premchand’s literary legacy and aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of his contributions to Hindi literature among students and scholars.The seminar was inaugurated by Dr.Sis.Jorry TF, the respected Principal of Mercy College, who emphasized the significance of celebrating literary figures like Premchand. The keynote address was delivered by Dr.C Balasubramanian, Associate Professor, Department of Hindi, Govt. Victoria College, Palakkad wThe aim of this seminar was to inspire students to engage with the works of Premchand and other literary giants of Hindi literature. The program sought to create an intellectual platform where participants could explore and discuss the themes, characters, and moral dilemmas in Premchand's writings, thereby enriching their understanding and appreciation of Hindi literature. As an outcome of the seminar, students were inspired to actively engage with Premchand's literary works, gaining a deeper understanding of their themes and their contemporary relevance.
