To commemorate World Population Day, the Department of Economics and Sociology at Mercy College, Palakkad, organized a lively flash mob and a creative face art competition. The events took place near the college reception and the leisure tower, respectively, aiming to raise awareness about populationissues and encourage student engagement. The flash mob began at 12:50 pm near the college reception, attracting a large crowd of students, faculty, and staff. Participants performed a well-rehearsed and energetic dance routine that addressed themes related to population growth, family planning, and sustainable living. The performance was designed to be both entertaining and educational, successfully conveying the urgency of managing population growth and its impact on resources. Simultaneously, the face art was held near the leisure tower. Students were invited to express their thoughts on population issues through face art, with themes including reproductive health, gender equality, and sustainable development. The participants showcased impressive creativity and skill, with designs that vividly portrayed the challenges and solutions associated with population dynamics. Students also prepared charts and other informational material for spreading awareness. Outcomes The event successfully engaged the college community, raising awareness about the critical issues surrounding population growth. It inspired students to consider their roles in promoting sustainable practices and highlighted the importance of informed decision-making in population management.
