The Department of Economics and Sociology at Mercy College Palakkad conducted a session on the subject of “Financial Planning for Young Adults” on the 8th of August, 2023, Tuesday. The event was graced by the presence of Dr. P. Karthika, Associate Professor from the College of Business and Economics at Kebri Dehar University in Ethiopia who served as an esteemed resource person. The session proved to be an enriching experience as Dr. P. Karthika, delivered a thought-provoking discourse. Her expertise in the field of Finance allowed her to delve into various facets of financial planning, throwing light on key aspects such as the functioning of capital markets, the significance of demat accounts, the role and operations of SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India), and the difference between physical and virtual commodity markets. Dr. Karthika also provided insights into the variety of employment opportunities within the capital market domain. In today’s world, characterized by its complex financial landscape, the importance of prudent financial planning cannot be overstated, particularly for young adults, as it lays the groundwork for a secure economic future. The information shared during the session was met with great enthusiasm by the attending II year and III-year students, who found the content both informative and inspiring.
