Palliative Care Day Observance

Fund Collection Programme and Sensitization Rally on Palliative Care With respect to the observance of Palliative Care Day (January 15th), the Department of Economics and Sociology conducted a sensitization rally and fund collection programme on January 13th, 2023, in association with Sahajeevanam Palliative Care. The objective of the programme was to make the public aware of the activities of palliative care and provide them with the opportunity to become involved in those activities. Mr. Gireesh and Mr. Manoj (directors of Sahajeevanam palliative care), Mrs. Sugandhi Murali (secretary), Mr. Raveendran P., and other team members of the unit provided proper instructions to the students. The teachers of the department of economics and sociology extended proper guidance for the programme. The programme began at 9.30 a.m. in the college auditorium. A total of 112 students from the department of economics participated in the programme. After the inauguration ceremony, the students were classified into 14 groups, namely Ardram, Sneham, Ragam, Thalam, Karunam, Nila, Nilavu, Nayanam, Puzha, Thanal, Kadal, Aravam, Sauhrdram, and Theertham. In addition to that, the members of the Sahajeevanam Palliative Care Unit also participated in the programme by splitting themselves into two groups. Each group was assigned to collect funds from various places in Palakkad. Students returned to the college at 1 o’clock after the completion of the fund collection. Students collected an amount of Rs. 56644. Students shared their experiences that they acquired through the program. They mentioned that the people were cooperative and empathetic enough to donate a large sum of money. The amount collected was handed over to the foundation by the Head of theDepartment, Dr. Liji.K.T. Mr. Gireesh from the Sahajeevanam Palliative Care Foundation gave a vote of thanks. Overall, the programme captured the hearts of people and explored vivid new experiences with the students.
