The PG Department of Mathematics and Statistics organizes a workshop on “Mathematical Thinking” on February 25, 2025, at EV 33 with the objective of enhancing participants problem-solving abilities and logical reasoning skills. The workshop was facilitated by Dr. Jayasree S, Educational Outreach Officer, IIT Palakkad. The session was designed for students to improve their approach to mathematics beyond mere calculations. The main objectives of this workshop are to develop logical and analytical thinking, to explore different problem-solving strategies, to understand the real-life applications of mathematical concepts, and to encourage a creative approach to mathematics. The students engaged in several hands-on activities, including puzzles and brain teasers to stimulate logical thinking, group discussions and problem-solving exercises, and real-world case studies demonstrating the importance of mathematical thinking. The workshop received positive feedback from students, who found the interactive approach engaging and insightful. This workshop successfully broadened participants perspectives to think critically and creatively.
